Braver Angels Southeast Pennsylvania Alliance
Announces a Special Opportunity
Courageous Citizenship in Action:
A 2-Part Immigration Event Series
The Braver Angels Southeast PA Alliance invites all residents in and around Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District to attend a two‑part event focused on finding practical and shared approaches to immigration. Constituents will work together across differences, develop proposals to address the challenges posed by immigration, and have the opportunity to present their ideas directly to Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Tom Suozzi (D-NY). Reps. Fitzpatrick and Souzzi serve in the unique roles of Co-Chairs of the bi-partisan U.S. House of Representatives Problem Solvers Caucus, offering constituents an ideal opportunity to engage policymakers.
Saturday, May 16 • 10:00 AM–3:00 PM (Lunch to be provided) • St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Doylestown
Participants with differing views on immigration will come together in a facilitated workshop to share experiences, explore concerns, and identify where common ground exists. By the end, participants will have created unanimous Points of Agreement on values, concerns, and possible policy recommendations.
These shared insights will form the basis for the follow‑up conversation with Reps. Fitzpatrick and Souzzi. (See details under Part 2.)

Who can participate?
All can attend, although residents of Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District (centered in Bucks County) are encouraged to participate. All participants must be willing to work with fellow residents to find common ground on the difficult, but critically important, issue of immigration.
If you participate in developing the Points of Agreement in this workshop, you will be invited to present those proposals directly to the two Representatives. Those interested in experiencing Courageous Citizenship in action may register as observers.
Participants and Observers do not need to be Braver Angels members.
Thursday, May 21 • 4:30–6:30 PM • Itri Wood Fired, Bristol
The second event in the series offers an up‑close experience with a constructive, cross‑partisan model for civic engagement. It will be a lived example of Courageous Citizenship in action.
Participants in the second event will meet with Reps. Brian Fitzpatrick (R‑PA) and Tom Suozzi (D‑NY), co‑chairs of the Problem Solvers Caucus. Constituents will reflect on their workshop experience, present their Points of Agreement to and engage in a moderated conversation with the Congressmen. Reps. Fitzpatrick and Suozzi will listen, ask questions, and respond directly to participants’ insights.
Both events will be facilitated in accordance with the Braver Angels Way.

If you have any questions, would like to observe either event, or can participate in the Common Ground Workshop only, please do not hesitate to reach out to Julianne O’Neil, joneil@braverangels.org, for assistance.
We hope to see you at both events! Thank you.
One Year Strong -
SEPA Builds Toward a Braver 2026
Braver Angels Southeastern Pennsylvania Celebrates Its First Year —and Looks Ahead
As we begin 2026, the Braver Angels Southeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (SEPA) has celebrated its first full year as an official Alliance — and looks ahead to an extraordinary year for civic life in our region.
After our acceptance as an official Braver Angels Alliance in November 2024, SEPA launched with bipartisan Red and Blue co-chairs, established a five-person Core Team, and began building relationships across the region.
What we built in 2025
In our first year, SEPA hosted:
Six Skills Workshops, including Depolarizing Within and Skills for Disagreeing Better
Three Community Debates, on Immigration Policy and Cell Phone Use in Schools
Ambassador presentations and member gatherings
A special event welcoming Braver Angels CEO Maury Giles, introducing Braver Angels’ expanded mission of Courageous Citizenship
These efforts laid the groundwork for something larger.
2026: A Historic Moment in Philadelphia
This June 25–28, Philadelphia will host the 2026 Braver Angels National Convention, focused on the theme, The Pledge Renewed, as part of the America 250 moment.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for Southeastern Pennsylvania to lead nationally in
strengthening civic culture.
SEPA will share opportunities for members to:
Attend as delegates
Volunteer at the Convention
Help shape local programming connected to the event
County-by-County:
Bringing Courageous Citizenship Closer to Home
In 2026, SEPA will begin developing a County-Based Model as part of the SEPA structure. Each County will have 1-2 ‘Leads’ to suggest and organize events around their local communities. One of each county’s ‘leads’ will become part of the Core Team for the SEPA Alliance to be supported by members of the entire region and share pertinent information.
Our goal is simple:
Bring Courageous Citizenship closer to home — with local conversations on issues that matter in your community.
Volunteers Needed!
In each of our counties and in Philadelphia we are looking for
Two County Leads for each of our six (6) Counties (Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia)
A Communications Coordinator for SEPA
Braver Angels-trained ambassadors, moderators, event organizers and debate chairs (see links for role-specific information)
Convention volunteers for this summer’s Braver Angels National Convention in Philly.
Our region has always played a defining role in American civic life. In 2026, we have the chance to do it again.
Join us.
If you’re interested in serving — or just want to learn more — please contact Anita Nardone, SEPA Recruitment Lead, anardone@braverangels.org.
